What Conditions Does Smoothbeam™ Laser Treat?

How Does The Treatment Work?

A gentle laser pulse stimulates the formation of new collagen beneath the skin surface while a dynamic cooling device protects the outer layer of the skin. As new collagen forms it softens the appearance of wrinkles and aging skin and reduces the number of acne lesions on the skin. Scars are gradually filled in by the body’s own collagen.

What Are The Treatments Like And Do They Hurt?

The treatment is performed in the doctor’s office and takes between 10 and 30 minutes. The doctor will use a small hand-piece with a probe that touches your skin to deliver the laser light. No tissue is removed and due to the comfort provided by the spray of the cooling device, most patients only feel a slight snapping or tingling sensation as the laser pulses. A topical anesthetic can be used for patients with sensitive skin. The number of treatments and interval of treatments vary depending on the severity of the condition and the extent of the improvement desired. After treatment, patients can resume all activities without anyone knowing you’ve had treatment.

How Long Before I See Results?

Every patient is different, although many notice improvements after the second or third treatment. During your series of treatment, you will see an ongoing improvement in how your skin looks and feels. You can watch as your skin gradually rebuilds from the inside restoring a more youthful, firmer and smoother appearance.

Tattoo removal using earlier methods such as dermabrasions, surgical excision and chemical peels are invasive, painful and often leave behind scars in place of the tattoo.

The advent of lasers has ushered in a system that targets only the ink used in the tattoo process. With our advanced laser system, we can remove most tattoo inks safely and without leaving a scar.

Medical lasers used to remove tattoos are designed to produce specific wavelengths of light that passes through the skin and is absorbed by the ink. The absorption of the light energy destructs the tattoo ink, which is then removed by the body’s natural filtering system.

Is the tattoo removal process painful?

The laser beams light in very short flashes of light or pulses. The impact of the energy from the intense pulse may feel similar to the snap of a rubber band on the skin. Most patients do not require anesthesia.

How many treatments will it take to remove the tattoo?

Large or heavy pigmented tattoos applied by a professional require multiple treatments and nonprofessional tattoos may require 3 to 4 treatments. All treatments should be spaced about 3 to 4 weeks apart. The number of treatments needed depends on the size, location, type and depth of the ink in the skin. Treatment sessions generally take from 10 to 30 minutes.

Is post-treatment care necessary?

Yes. The treated area should be kept clean (not scrubbed) with application of antibacterial ointment administered by your doctor.
