The Q-switch Ruby laser has been used to treat a variety of unwanted cosmetic lentigines, “brown spots”, and/or seborrheic keratoses for many years. The laser can be used to treat these unwanted spots on any area of the body. Immediately after treatment with the laser, each brown spot will become slightly crusty. The scale/crust typically falls off by itself in 7-10 days. Treatments only take a few minutes and are performed in the office. The treatment feels similar to a small rubber-band snap and even topical anesthesia is not usually needed. Most spots can be treated with one treatment, however, patients may need to have spots treated more than once for complete removal. Patients are urged not to go in the sun and certainly to wear sun block to prevent these recurrences.

Nothing is quite beautiful as soft, healthy-looking skin. As we age, sun, wind, time and hormones take their toll and fine lines begin to form around the eyes and month. Deeper line along the brow, and next to the nose and mouth may also, appear. These changes are all due to the breakdown of collagen, the support network of tissue beneath the top layer of skin.
How does Cool Touch Facial Rejuvenation Work?
Some popular methods to counter the effects of aging include lasers, dermabrasion and chemical peels. While these treatments are effective, they often require bandages and extensive recovery. CoolTouch® facial rejuvenation is a revolutionary process that delivers laser energy beneath the top layer of skin, stimulating the production of collagen. New collagen softens the appearance of aging skin.
CoolTouch® facial rejuvenation treatments are delivered by a computer-controlled handpiece that protects the surrounding tissue and outer layer of skin. This handpiece applies a unique protective cooling spray to the skin just before that laser energy is released. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis without anesthesia.
Am I Good Candidate for Cool Touch Facial rejuvenation?
CoolTouch® works well on depressed and raised scars, lines and discoloration. Patients with dark skin tones who are not good candidates for laser resurfacing can be safely treated with CoolTouch®. Your physician will review your medical history, age, skin type, pigmentation, and consider your desired result to determine the best course of treatment for you.
What Can I Expect After Cool Touch Facial Rejuvenation?
Because CoolTouch® Facial Rejuvenation is a non-invasive outpatient procedure, no recovery time or bandages are required. Typically, patients undergo multiple treatments every 4-6 weeks to achieve the desired result, followed by treatments every 8-12 weeks for maintenance. Most see marked results by the third treatment.

The Erbium laser is one of the latest advances for the treatment of aging and sun-damaged skin. The laser design is specific in its ability to safely remove or noticeably decrease wrinkles and improve the overall color and skin texture of the face, neck and hands. Patients can have their procedure performed in the doctor’s office and be home that same day.
How Does The Erbium Laser Work?
The laser light is absorbed by water in your skin cells. The absorption in turn causes the instantaneous vaporization of the cell. As your physician passes the laser light over your skin, a mere 30 millionths of an inch of tissue is removed at a time. This incredible control allows your physician to treat only as deep as needed, from removing wrinkles to refreshing your overall skin appearance. After the damaged skin is removed, new skin quickly regrows in its place leaving you with smoother, healthier, more vibrant skin.
Does Erbium Laser Treatment Hurt?
The level of discomfort is different for every patient and also varies by the location skin surface area treated. Many patients do not request any pain medication during treatment and relate the discomfort to that of a sunburn. Other patients appreciate a topical or more extensive anesthetic. Your doctor will discuss your options with you based upon your own tolerance and the specific areas to be treated.
What Can I Expect After Erbium Laser Treatment?
After the procedure, the treated areas are kept moist with ointment and/or other topicals for the first few days. Post-operatively, there is a period of healing which is generally completed within five to seven days. Of course everyone will heal at various rates depending on the depth of the treatment and the particular areas treated and your own healing rate. Sunblock should be applied when in the sun. Make-up can be worn after the first week. Over the next few weeks, your fresh, new, pink skin will fade to a normal tone revealing a softer, smoother, younger look.
